Tom Hamning

Bass Guitar

5-string BASSIST Tom Hamning, a member of TAXI (a prominent songwriters submission company), has recorded and performed a wide range of musical styles in Hard Rock, Country, Southern Rock, Blues, Rock & Roll, Gospel, Christian Rock, Jazz Fusion and World Music bands. His extensive studio experience includes recording for artists like keyboardist DAVE RICE (OTIS RUSH) when he recorded his CD titled “Locution”. He has also recorded with the bands BAD MONKEY and SOUTHERN SOUL which received radio play for their CD’s title song “Headin’ South”. Recently, Tom submitted two of the cover band’s ALMOST BROTHERS BAND demo songs to TAXI which were reviewed and forwarded to CMH Record’s for use in an upcoming compilation CD of Southern Rock remakes.

One of Tom’s music career highlights was being featured in the February 2004 issue of the RECORDING MAGAZINE along with fellow musician STEVE DEARDORFF for their ability to create a Bass Guitar and Tribal Drums recording.(And they were told it couldn’t be done...) When asked about his playing style Tom muses "I'd have to say that the strongest part I've learned over the years about playing music is having the ability to play from the heart instead of just reading sheet music or charts. When playing a song, I've always found it better to emotionally become a part of the song in which you are playing. I've found that when you can have a full band that performs in the same manner, the music that is being expressed comes across very powerful, even at lower volumes. I have found that feeling of power in AVM and it continues to get stronger every time the band performs".
